Over the past month our missionaries and volunteers gathered, purchased and assembled gift baskets to distribute to the clients in our CPCN program. Many of these people are elderly and live alone. Travel has been difficult for some families over the past 2 years. Our team loves seeing the reaction to this simple gesture of caring. Some are moved to tears and others giggle with joy. Over the past week our team has personally delivered over 50 gift baskets.
The gift baskets are made possible by the generous donations of our ministry supporters and CPCN community partners. This is truly a team effort. When we started the CPCN, we envisioned taking care of the elderly in our community during the Covid pandemic. It has turned into much more. Our volunteers have built meaningful relationships with our clients. We had one Virtual Volunteer bring his family down to deliver the baskets to the people he calls each week. What a way to support our elderly.
The CPCN has done dozens of home repairs for the elderly home owners we serve. Many of these repairs have been safety related. All of the repairs have allowed these people to stay in their homes and has improved their quality of life. Each week our volunteers call every client to do a wellness check. We document their needs and do our best to source solutions. Sometimes this is as simple as delivering food. Other times it can be a major home repair issue that we cannot fix. We do our best to solve the problems discovered during our calls.
Our CPCN works year round to care for those enrolled in the program. Your support allows us to fix homes, deliver needed support services and yes, even a gift basket at Christmas. We do not receive any government funding for our work. It is fully supported by generous donations and the hard work of our staff and volunteers. Thank you for all you do for us and those we serve. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
