Thanks to a generous donation from Tim Helbling and G. W. Helbling & Sons, Sun Ministries has a new facility in Hyde Park. We have completed all of the work required for our occupancy permit and a zoning variance has been approved for our operation.
The approximately 4200 square foot building was used as a silk screen manufacturing facility since the 1960's. It has a woodworking shop, work table space, office and meeting space. We are in the process of finishing the clean up and repainting of the interior. Once that is complete, we can use it as a place to bring in volunteer work crews and store our equipment. We plan to offer training and assistance to bring jobs into the Hyde Park area and help residents start small businesses.
The building was occupied and in use up until the day of the donation. It has been occupied by the Helbling family business for 45 years. We greatly appreciate this donation and plan to utilize this building to bring renewal to the Hyde Park area.
